Concealed carry class for women in Central Ohio
Many women in Central Ohio start by searching for a concealed carry class. That instinct is right; carrying is a serious decision. But a typical CCW class is a few hours in a classroom and a short qualification. It certifies. It does not build competence.
What a typical CCW class covers
- Ohio law basics
- Safe storage
- A classroom block
- A brief range qualification
Worth knowing plainly: since 2022, Ohio no longer requires a permit to carry concealed for most adults, so the class is optional for many. Which makes the real question not "am I certified?" but "am I ready?"
This is education, not legal advice; check current Ohio law.
What it skips
- Grip, stance and trigger fundamentals under supervision
- Enough live rounds to build real confidence
- Drawing and carrying with a real body and real clothing
- Decision-making under stress
- A room with no husbands, boyfriends or spectators

Everything you might be wondering.
Do I need a concealed carry permit in Ohio?
For most adults, no. Since 2022 Ohio has not required a permit to carry concealed. A permit can still be useful for reciprocity when you travel to other states. This is education, not legal advice.
Is the EMPRESS course a CCW certification class?
No. It is a full beginner foundation, three private days for women starting at the very beginning. Concealed carry fundamentals are included on day three.
Do I need to own a gun?
No. Everything is provided, and you never need to own one or have ever touched one.
Can my husband or boyfriend come?
No. Classes are women only, by design. No husbands, no boyfriends, no exceptions.
